The second floor roof went on yesterday.  You can't imagine the dust, the dirt and the noise nearly all day, however, it is DONE!! Still a few months work ahead, I think, creating the third floor gompa-meditation hall-yoga hall, but perhaps that's being optimistic, ha ha.....soon we will have Diwali, which is the festival of lights.  Unfortunately, it's also the festival of fireworks that just explode with a very loud bang.  A popular sport is for kids to throw them under the scooter or bicycle when you are riding along!  Happy Diwali.

I arrived in Madrid from Moscow, then flew on to Toulouse for the one week business workshop in Vajrayogini which we just finished.  Such a nice place to do retreat.  Now, back in Madrid for a day before starting the day and a half of meditation for business people, followed by two beginner workshops.  On the 17th returning to India for a while, which includes attending the teachings by His Holiness in Dharamsala, from 24th December.

Day after I arrived a public talk on Peaceful Living, Peaceful Dying.  Around 60 people attended.  Then we had a wonderful retreat with around 35 people.  The weather was really strange, threatening rain constantly but it held back except for a small shower, so we experienced fog instead!  The retreat finished with a long life puja offered to me, as it is my life obstacle year astrologically, and I think it was a moving experience for many.  Misha even composed a long life prayer and name mantra for me.  It was humbling how much love and care they put into the occasion.  Thank you Moscow and especially Misha, Eugene and Yana.  Yesterday and today, Reiki 2 and tomorrow Reiki 1, finishing on Thursday then on to the airport and Delhi then Kathmandu to Pokhara for Choeding Rinpoche's long life puja.

Riga-Lithuania to Moscow

After a very comfortable coach ride from Riga to Lithuania, I taught The Art of Happiness on Friday evening then Saturday and Sunday, Healing Disturbing Emotions and Sunday evening we meditated on Tara.  For the first time in history, the 21 Taras were recited in Lithuanian!  Today I am flying from Vilnius to Moscow and we have a full programme until the long life puja in Pokhara for Choeding Rinpoche.

Somehow I seem to have fallen behind on writing the new!  Arrived in Riga over a week ago and started teaching Bodhicitta and now we have just finished a one week retreat at the seaside, on Green Tara.  I really felt the energy of Tara and the good energy of the group.  They requested another Tara retreat as soon as possible, so that's a good sign.  Thursday evening we continue with Bodhicitta and all weekend.

Helsinki news

Finished the commentary on Medicine Buddha and on Tuesday we head off to retreat until Sunday. Unfortunately, Choeding Rinpoche of pokhara Nepal is very sick and I offered a long life puja to Rinpoche which has been accepted and will happen on the 19th August. If you want to make an offering towards it, please use Paypal or contact me.

Hi, it has been a very productive time in Bern and Vienna, with Medicine Buddha and Reiki teachings.  We are thinking about organising a Medicine Buddha retreat next year in this area.  Next Helsinki and Medicine Buddha teachings plus a retreat on Healing Disturbing Emotions.
Thanks go to Anastasia and Marianne in Bern and Andrea/Astrid in Vienna for their kindness and hard work.

Hafiz "Laughing at the word two"

A friend sent me another poem of Hafiz, I am sure you will enjoy.  Also thought provoking?

That Illumined

Who keeps
Seducing the formless into form

Had the charm to win my

Only a Perfect One

Who is always
Laughing at the word

Can make you know

Beautiful words and thoughts

We have not come to take prisoners (Hafiz, 1320-1389)

We have not come here to take prisoners,
but to surrender even more deeply
to freedom and joy.
We have not come into this exquisite world
to hold ourselves hostage from love.
Run my dear,
from anything
that may not strengthen
your precious budding wings.
Run like hell my dear,
from anyone likely
to put a sharp knife
into the sacred, tender vision
of your beautiful heart.
We have a duty to befriend
those aspects of obedience
that stand outside our house
and shout to our reason
“O please, O please,
come out and play.’’
For we have not come here to take prisoners
or to confine our wondrous spirits,
but to experience ever and ever more deeply
our divine courage, freedom, and light!

Tushita Meditation Centre, Dharamsala

Intro Course at Tushita and then Peaceful Living, Peaceful Dying

It was really enjoyable for me teaching the Intro Course at Tushita.  The group, from the very beginning were eager for Dharma teachings and the way we started is the way we finished.  55 people from various countries around the world seemed to have an enjoyable time together.
We finished with the usual picnic and photo op and some people grabbed the opportunity to ask final questions.  Then we waited around for Kyabje Zopa Rinpoche to leave and I am attaching a photo of us laughing together.  Rinpoche was really, really kind to accept our invitation to attend Guru Puja, which lasted four hours - by the way, the chanting was led by Ven. Sara who did a great job - and then Rinpoche taught the following morning on emptiness for three hours.  We felt truly blessed.  Thank you again Rinpoche.

Tushita Meditation Centre, Dharamsala

Having arrived in Tushita this morning, at the tail end of two courses, I thought "How quiet this place is", however, that's before 90 people started talking after their ten days of silence!  Now they have all left for McLeod Ganj and other destinations and the silence is deafening.  I haven't been in Tushita since the old building was demolished.  However, the new building is a beautiful design and fits into the space very well.  A pleasant, very pleasant surprise.

Next Tuesday we start the Introductory Course and after that Peaceful Living, Peaceful Dying.  Looking forward to some interesting discussions.

Kyabje Zopa Rinpoche has gone to Manali but is due back within the next few days.

The New Year and what i am doing.....

Very little!  Some practices and then catching up on all the small jobs I put on "hold" until I had time to deal with them.  My schedule is nearly finished for this year, with subjects for the teachings being finalised.  A new country this year will be Lithuania.  As soon as the calendar is ready I will publish it on this blog.  Otherwise there won't be much news until March-April when I start teaching in Tushita Dharamsala.  If you have been putting off writing to me because you assume I am busy, now is the time to do so, I do have time for you and will reply quite quickly.  Take care and much love,
